Over-water
Licensed 6 GHz High-Capacity Microwave Link
Over-land Unlicensed 5 GHz Wireless Backhaul Link
Flamingo Television
"As a Caribbean ISP on two Islands in the Netherland Antilles we have several inter-island point-to-point links and over-land links between the islands to our offices. We have use different brands of microwave equipment for our short and long haul distances over land and over sea. Not all of the microwave equipment we have deployed in the past could always endure the sunny, salty, and windy sea environmental conditions that affect link quality and performance. Some of the other radios we have used for long distance over sea links ended up being re-purposed as redundant radios for our over-land short distances, because they could not deliver the performance or capacity needed."
"When one of our radios on a short distance over-land link failed, we stumbled upon a special offer on the unlicensed 5 GHz TrangoLINK-45, 45 Mbps OFDM radio. The pricing was so good that we decided to give it a try as our secondary redundant path radio. When we received the TrangoLINK-45 we decided to test-run it on our longest distance link over water. With a little re-alignment of the dishes it took us less than 15 minutes to have a working link still good for 12 Mbps over water at 42 miles."
"We found the radio command line and web interfaces to be very intuitive. As a lot of technicians do, we did not read the manual. First we try, then ask, and read later. So once we had some questions regarding some of the settings and options in the radio, we called Trango technical support. A technician took us through all the options explaining all of the functions and preferred settings. This process took only around 10 minutes. Perfect support."
"This is what we expect from technology: 1) It should not take ages to make it do what it is expected to do; 2) It needs to do, and keep doing, what it is expected to do, or better; 3) it needs to be easy to comprehend and when it fails or you don’t understand something, there needs to be someone available to solve and explain it. We can say that Trango equipment and support lived up to all of these expectations."
"After testing over water, we implemented the TrangoLINK-45 on our short distance 7-mile over-land link. After running it a for a while without any issues, we decided to try Trango's licensed backhaul. We chose to deploy the TrangoLINK Giga 6 GHz microwave radio for our long distance 42-mile inter-island link where we needed additional capacity. Same deal here. Flawless."
"We are used to beeps and light indicators for aligning dishes, which we thought was great before, but with the TrangoLINK Giga ODU having an on-radio digital LED diplay for RSSI, aligning really doesn’t get any better than this. Out of the box basically we had a full over 100 Mbps inter-Island link running in less than 15 minutes without any tuning or adjusting modulation. Basically the same deal this time—quick and easy install, perfect performance."
"We can honestly say, our compliments to Trango and their products. A smooth ordering process, good tracking of the shipment, fast responses on anything regarding sales or technical support and above all, a great product that outperforms anything we have used before. Trango will definitely be our new standard now."
