Wireless Access Point

Access5830™ & Access583A

trango access5830 access point - 5.8 ghz 10 mbps broadband wireless base station

5.8 GHz Broadband Wireless Base Station

  • Up to 18-mile range, 12 dB fade margin
  • 10 Mbps usable subscriber throughput
  • Supports up to 500 subscribers per AP
  • Dual polarity antenna, software switchable
  • Integrated antenna and connectorized versions available

The Access5830 is an enterprise-class wireless access point offering 10 Mbps, direct sequence, and spread spectrum. It operates in the 5.8 gigahertz license-exempt band in multiple channels. This fully weatherized outdoor unit utilizes Trango's patented adaptive dynamic polling algorithm, SMARTPolling™, technology to efficiently deliver broadband Internet access to up to 500 subscriber units and includes a comprehensive set of management and deployment tools.

The Access5830™ wireless access point (AP) is available in two versions, one with an integrated antenna and one with dual external antenna connectors. Like all Trango Broadband products, the Access Point is powered via Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) for ease of installation.

Versatility & Scalability

The Access5830 base station works in conjunction with any Access5830™ compatible subscriber unit including the new Atlas FOX SU (see more compatible SUs at right).

Tight channels, coupled with dual polarity antennas allow total collocation potential of up to 12 access points for a fully loaded cell site. More typical deployments involve anywhere from 1 to 6 access points. With a 60 degree antenna beamwidth, you can cover a full 360 degree site with 6 APs.

Features such as 6 channels, all user-selectable, non-overlapping and programmable, coupled with dual polarity antennas allow for maximum flexibility and permit the administrator to change channel assignments quickly and to minimize susceptibility to interference.

All programming of the network and of authorized subscriber units is consolidated at the AP to maintain full network control. Supported protocols such as Telnet, SNMP, HTTP, and FTP allow network operators to configure and manage the AP database remotely to modify channel plans, configuration, the Subscriber Unit database, and other parameters.

Management and Deployment Tools

The Trango wireless access point offers a host of management tools designed to allow network operators to quickly and efficiently deploy and manage their Access5830™ network. A few features:

  • Site Survey - this tool scans entire band and reports back average and peak interference
  • RF LINK / Speed test - tests each SU for quality of link and reports overall bandwidth as well as dropped packet errors.
  • Receive Threshold Control - Setting to increase or decrease receiver sensitivity depending on range and interference conditions.
  • Channel Planning - Use the Access5830™ default channels or assign any frequency to one of 30 available channels in single MHz increments
  • Power Leveling - The powerful feature will automatically adjust the output power of each subscriber unit to the specified RSSI Target. This feature allows each SU's signal to be received at the AP at approximately the same level regardless of the AP's distance.
  • SNMP - monitor the status of all SU's via Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), built in web browser interface, Telnet. Collects and reports all vital SU statistics and status.

Exclusive Robust Adaptive Polling Algorithm

Trango's patented SMARTPolling™ (U.S. patent 7,127,255) is a unique and powerful prioritization scheme designed to ensure the highest quality of service, such as VoIP, to each user at the maximum assigned throughput. The AP will poll each SU in a round-robin fashion, favoring subscribers which are busy passing traffic. For this reason the SMARTPolling™ protocol is adaptive and dynamic as opposed to straight Time Division Duplex (TDD). Added control of the polling sequence is provided by the ability for network operators to specify certain subscribers as PRIORITY in which case these subscribers will be polled more frequently thus guaranteeing even lower latency for critical clients.
