Wireless Backhaul Defined

Wireless backhaul is the high-capacity point-to-point network connection between a base station of access points and the network operator's core transmission network management. High capacity microwave wireless is preferred method of backhaul for mobile backhaul, WiMAX backhaul, and carrier Ethernet operators due to it's lower cost, faster deplyment time, and higher availability over traditional backhaul technologies of leased wireline, fiber, and satellite. Private enterprise networks, government networks, and security networks also often replace leased lines with wireless backhaul for the same benefits.
